The 19th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN 19) Summit conference, was held in Bali Island of Indonesia on 17 Nov discussed the common visa system for ASEAN. Indonesian President hope the 19th ASEAN Summit would achieve consensus from all Asean’s members on common visa system to be processed formally research in 2012.

According to his opinion, the common ASEAN visa system would plays a good role for development tourism industry in the region; this is one of 11 priority fields in the co-operated program to accelerate the liberalization in the ASEAN Market. Therefore, an intensive research on common ASEAN visa is necessary as there are many things that need to be discussed as the online system, the coordination between the authorities of the Member States....

Common visa policy can be applied in some steps; First step, the common visa will generally be issued to diplomats and the next stage will be granted to citizens of certain countries that have a lot of citizens traveling to the ASEAN member countries such as Japan, Korea and China… However, before the agreement of a common visa system for visitors from outside ASEAN, the ASEAN countries have agreed on the common visa for citizens within ASEAN region.

Currency, most of ASEAN member countries, except for Cambodia and Laos, have approved the policy of mutual visas exemption for citizens of countries in the region with a certain time in order to promote inner-ASEAN travel.
